A concert of songs forgotten dedicated to those who shaped our musical heritage.
As part of the session “Our Ryhyrms Run Through it”, I will be discussing Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s inter-genre borrowings between artsong genre and Sorrow Songs (slave songs) with a focus on rhythm as it connects to the Six Sorrow Songs, Op. 57 cycle.
As an Education & Engagement Consultant, it was a joy curating the Interactive Discovery Experience exhibition for the reimagined version of Bluebeard’s Castle opera in Toronto! The support of the team at Against the Grain and Rare Dementia Support Canada throughout this process has been immensely important.
