In the fall of 2022, I was invited to write a short article for the University of Toronto’s Music library. In this article, I talk about Persian music and poetry, my experience as a woman opera singer, and the discovery of works by Persian women musicians, which allowed me to connect to my roots. A list of Persian musicians is appended to the article to encourage this body of work for leisure, research, education, and stage work.
